A lecturer from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Perak had gone viral as a video of her mocking B40 income students was posted on Twitter.
The video was posted by an anonymous user which showed a 1min 45 second recording but was took down in less than 10 hours before having deleted their account.

It was reported that the video had gained over a million views within a few hours after being uploaded.
"Not everyone is born into easy circumstances. When a professor from UiTM Perak's Seri Iskandar campus talked to us ex-students this way, we all still feel insulted and affected by every word she said. You all judge for yourselves&rdquo; said the twitter user.

The lecturer in question is an associate professor and a doctorate degree holder. She had asked the student to answer a question but was dissatisfied with the outcome of the answer.
The lecturer had then asked the student if he was on their laptop or phone and the student had answered that he did not own a laptop.
The lecturer blew up at the student and questioned many things in front of the live class
She had asked him about his background, parents&rsquo; profession, where he lives and even if he had siblings.
The student who is from Seremban answered and stated that his father isn&rsquo;t working and that his mother had passed away. He also does have siblings.
The lecturer later went on a rant and had also shook a gold bracelet she was wearing on the camera while yelling &ldquo;Go tell your older sister, if she has a gold bracelet, go and sell it and buy a laptop!&rdquo;

&ldquo;This is why you can&rsquo;t study well, it&rsquo;s because you don&rsquo;t have a computer&rdquo; she continued.

The lecturer had then stated that the student is going to be a dropout student as she was going to start teaching how to use Microsoft Excel and the student didn&rsquo;t have a computer to do so.
"You don't have a laptop in the fifth semester... Even if I didn't have clothes, even if I have just five pieces of clothing left, it is most important for me to have a computer."
The lecturer then yelled and asked what&rsquo;s the students&rsquo; problem as a laptop only cost RM800.
&ldquo;This is why I can&rsquo;t sit with B40 people. They will think about other things instead of their studies&rdquo;.
As the lecturer was too angry about the whole situation, she had ordered her students to turn off their cameras as she couldn&rsquo;t stand to see their faces anymore.
The tweet had gained over 70,000 retweets during the time it was up before being taken down
Many netizens were left in disbelief at the attitude and actions of the lecturer.

UiTM has yet to address the issue
In a report by Astro Awani, the UiTM Alumni Association Malaysia president Rasydan Mohd Hassan had called the said university&rsquo;s top management to investigate the matter as an incident like this shouldn&rsquo;t be happening.
Rasydan emphasizes that the statement on insulting and disparaging the B40 group should never be made by anyone.
&ldquo;Necessary action must be taken as the lecturer has damaged the image of our beloved university. The lecturer needs to understand the situation that&rsquo;s being faced by the country as there is unstable economic conditions due to the pandemic&rdquo;.
The news had also caught the attention of the People&rsquo;s Justice Party (PKR) and they had posted that the lecturer &ldquo;lacked empathy, is unethical and unprofessional&rdquo;.

For those with information regarding the student involved, PKR had encouraged the public to provide the contact so they may provide him with the assistance he needs.
Now this shouldn&rsquo;t happen in any institution of learning and a lecturer shouldn&rsquo;t be blaming students for lacking things like computers. They should also never judge a book by it&rsquo;s cover as even some students can excel without a laptop in hand.
Hopefully the university will take swift action towards this lecturer and the student receives the help he needs.

With a score of 979 points, Singapore was identified as one of the institute&rsquo;s so-called &ldquo;Gold Cities&rdquo; &mdash; a label given to urban centres offering consistently high standards of living.
Education and innovation were named as key pillars of the city&rsquo;s success, with local universities ranked among the top 50 globally and a remarkable 7.37 patents granted per 10,000 residents, highlighting a &ldquo;steady pipeline&rdquo; of new ideas. Singapore also enjoys high digital literacy, with 55 per cent of citizens possessing digital skills and over 63 per cent fluent in a foreign language &mdash; a reflection of its global connectivity.

The session, attended by representatives from the Selangor Health Department, Economic Planning Unit, district health offices, and local councils, was convened to discuss the prospect of a complete ban on vape sales in the state.

&ldquo;This measure is in line with national legislation and reflects Selangor&rsquo;s commitment to safeguard public health, especially that of our younger generation,&rdquo; she said in an official statement.
The state&rsquo;s decision follows growing public concern about the visibility of vape marketing, particularly near schools and public areas, which critics say normalises the habit among impressionable youth.
Vaping Among Teen Boys Described as &lsquo;Alarming&rsquo;

She described the figure as &ldquo;deeply alarming&rdquo; and warned that it signalled a dangerous trend that, if left unaddressed, could have long-term public health implications.
&ldquo;These statistics are not just numbers; they represent thousands of young lives potentially heading down a path of addiction and health problems,&rdquo; she said. &ldquo;We cannot afford to be passive. The time to act is now.&rdquo;
Online Sales Remain a Key Regulatory Challenge

Despite the legal nuances, Selangor is calling for widespread support to ensure the success of its anti-vape campaign. Jamaliah said that the cooperation of parents, schools, healthcare professionals, and civil society organisations is vital to changing the tide of vape use among teens.
&ldquo;We welcome the active involvement of stakeholders at all levels&mdash;state, federal, and grassroots&mdash;to ensure these measures are effective and enduring,&rdquo; she said. &ldquo;This is not just a government effort. It must be a collective societal responsibility.&rdquo;
