Gaming is something that many people had picked up during the pandemic due to many being stuck at home and got nothing to do.
When you really think of it, gaming has also been a past time for many whether it being played to kill time and chill out with friends to even making a career out of it via streaming or playing competitive Esports.

The one thing that separates many games aside from the language barriers faced according to regions (especially in Southeast Asia and Europe), it&rsquo;s the accessibility of playing the game at anywhere and anytime. The gaming community is typically divided by three where games are played on Mobile, Console and PC.
But it seems like Netflix is looking to make their way into the gaming world by introducing their very own cloud gaming service. So far, it seems like they will be going into this service mainly within the mobile segment for now and looking to include PC and TV as well.

Netflix says they are looking into expanding the company&rsquo;s endeavours with VP of Game Development at Netflix, Mike Verdu saying that the company will &ldquo;approach this at the same way we did with mobile&rdquo;. With the introduction of cloud gaming, it will also enable Netflix to extend their video streaming service to PC and smart TVs too.
A thing to note is that Netflix is not asking for subscribers to get a console replacement with their cloud gaming service as their idea is a completely business model. Netflix also says that they will be setting up a new studio that is led by Chacko Sunny who was formally the Activision Blizzard&rsquo;s Overwatch producer. Netflix has also announced the setup of their own in-house game studio which is helmed by Marko Lastikka who was the General Manager of Zynga Helsinki.

Netflix Has Pretty Tough Competition
A couple weeks ago, Google announced that their Google Stadia Cloud Gaming service will be shutting down and their service will remain live till 18th January 2023. The company even announced the refunding of all Stadia hardware via the Google Store and add on content which is purchased from the Stadia Store.
So, who are their competitors?
1) Microsoft Xbox Game Pass

With one of their competitors out of the picture, it looks like Netflix has a chance to rise to the top&hellip; right? Well, not exactly because they&rsquo;ll have to now go up against the Xbox Game Pass who&rsquo;s currently one of the top cloud gaming services out there as they have paired up with Microsoft. For those who don&rsquo;t know, if you own an Xbox, you can access all your games via cloud on the console as well as the PC including your save files.
I&rsquo;ve given this a try before and from experience, it ain&rsquo;t too bad. Aside from the slightly questionable online server issues for games such as Forza Horizon 5 where I can&rsquo;t seem to see friends in the game session or we suddenly disconnect, it&rsquo;s pretty solid and stable while promoting cross-platform play too.
2) Nvidia GeForce Now

Nvidia GeForce Now was released in 2021 and has a $99 (~RM468.13) subscription fee for six-months. Those with the high-end graphics cards from Nvidia would benefit from this as you can play games at 4K HDR at 60fps or even 1440p at 120fps to any device you own at a low latency.
Many users were impressed at the fact that you are able to play Triple A titles with ray tracing included on even the smallest device such as a mobile phone at 1080p with no issues at maximum settings.

It&rsquo;s described that the quality of the game whether on mobile, TV or a borrowed device looks almost as good as the game when being played on your very own desktop. They had managed to get the details in the game on point which shows the step on quality over other cloud gaming platforms.
3) Valve Steam Deck

If you&rsquo;re a PC gamer who mainly plays on the platform called Steam, you&rsquo;ll be very familiar with the device. The Steam Deck is a handheld gaming computer which is developed by Valve Corporation and was released on 25 February 2022. It&rsquo;s similar to a Nintendo Switch where it can be played handheld or even connected to a monitor.
Currently, the Steam Deck is dubbed as one of the most powerful cloud gaming devices in the market thanks to Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge being compatible to the device. If you thought this was impressive, you can also link up your Microsoft Xbox Account to access their cloud gaming library as well which already shows how much value this device is.
With that being said, Netflix has some tough competition and will need to overcome a lot of strong and technical infrastructures to get cloud gaming right as streaming games is considered &ldquo;a different animal&rdquo; than the usual movie and TV shows. They will also need to build their platforms up properly such as developers Riot Games and Huge Studios who have their own technological backbone to create better experiences for players all around.

Given how big the company is, the possibilities are endless but they still do have a long way as CNBC cited that there are at least 1.7 million mobile gamers under Netflix&rsquo;s platform which is less than 1% of their 221 million subscribers on the platform.
So far, the gaming industry alone proves to be a challenge with many developers on board dominating the gaming scene. With the rise of Netflix in the cloud gaming industry, its certainly going to trigger others to follow in the same footsteps to make games more accessible to many.

A Vietnamese passenger was fined VND4 million (approximately RM650) after joking about carrying a bomb while disembarking from a Malaysia Airlines flight at Hanoi&rsquo;s Noi Bai International Airport. The offhand remark triggered a full-scale security response, serving as a stark reminder that jokes about explosives are no laughing matter in the context of aviation safety.
Offhand Comment Triggers Emergency Protocol

The incident took place on 22 June 2025, shortly after Malaysia Airlines flight MH752 from Kuala Lumpur landed in Hanoi. As passengers were exiting the aircraft, a flight attendant approached one of the male passengers and inquired about the long, black carry-on case he was holding. The man responded with a single word&mdash;&ldquo;Bomb.&rdquo;
Though seemingly brief, the response set off the airport's full emergency response protocol. The crew immediately alerted authorities, leading to the passenger being escorted off the aircraft. He was detained and questioned by a coordinated team involving immigration police, airport police, aviation security personnel, Malaysia Airlines officials, and staff from Vietnam Airport Ground Services (VIAGS).
No Threat Found, But Fine Imposed

A comprehensive inspection was carried out on both the passenger and his luggage. The black case in question was thoroughly examined and found to contain only a computer keyboard and a mouse. No weapons, explosives, or prohibited items were discovered.
The man later admitted that his comment was intended as a joke, claiming he was unaware of how serious such statements are taken in aviation contexts. He apologised to the authorities, acknowledging his poor judgement. Despite the absence of any real threat, he was fined VND4 million under Vietnamese civil aviation regulations for causing public alarm and disrupting airport operations.
Airport Authorities Issue Public Warning

From 1st July 2025, Malaysians will be able to renew and activate their My50 unlimited travel pass entirely through the Touch &lsquo;n Go (TNG) eWallet app, as part of a nationwide push to digitalise public transport systems.
The days of long queues at Rapid KL counters may soon be over. According to Transport Minister Anthony Loke, Prasarana Malaysia Berhad, in partnership with Touch &lsquo;n Go, has launched a digital version of the My50 Travel Pass, offering greater convenience for urban commuters.

Previously, renewing the monthly pass required commuters to line up and use their MyKad (NRIC) for activation. With the new system, users can perform the entire process from their smartphones in a matter of minutes &mdash; eliminating wait times that could previously stretch to 45 minutes or more at peak hours.
&ldquo;This move aligns with our efforts to modernise public transport and push towards a fully digital and cashless society,&rdquo; said Loke during the launch. &ldquo;A world-class public transport system is not just about having trains and buses; it&rsquo;s also about seamless digital infrastructure.&rdquo;
How It Works: My50 on Your Phone

It&rsquo;s important to note that the My50 pass is only available to Malaysian citizens, and each pass can only be linked to one Touch &lsquo;n Go card at a time. A minimum card balance of RM5 is still required when using the pass on public transport.
A Boon for 250,000+ Users &mdash; and Growing

A 20-year-old female student from Kuching, Sarawak, was tragically found murdered in her dormitory room at the Mutiara Ville condominium in Cyberjaya on Tuesday, 25 June 2025. The victim, who was pursuing a Bachelor&rsquo;s Degree in Physiotherapy at a private university, was discovered lying unconscious with serious head injuries by a close friend around 10am.
The friend had visited the unit after failing to get in touch with the victim and promptly alerted the authorities. Emergency services later confirmed that the student had died at the scene, with police quickly launching a murder investigation.
Alone During Semester Break

According to early investigations, the victim had been living in a shared condominium unit with five housemates. However, all five had returned to their respective hometowns for the mid-year holidays on 21 June, leaving the young woman alone in the residence. She had reportedly stayed behind to prepare for her final examinations.
Sources revealed that she was well-liked and academically driven, and there had been no prior reports of disputes or personal issues that might have led to the violent incident.
No Signs of Forced Entry or Sexual Assault

&ldquo;We believe the male suspect began withdrawing money almost immediately after the murder took place,&rdquo; Norhizam said. &ldquo;This has given us valuable digital evidence that we are now using to help trace the suspect&rsquo;s identity and location.&rdquo;
Police are reviewing CCTV footage from ATM machines and other public areas near the transaction sites in hopes of identifying the individual responsible.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder. Authorities are now calling on members of the public who may have any information about the incident or the suspect to come forward.

Under the BLMT model, the private developer will fund, build, and maintain the township for 25 years before transferring ownership to the government.
&ldquo;There will be no taxpayer money used,&rdquo; Dr Zaliha stated, addressing criticisms about national spending priorities.

&ldquo;The learned trial judge did not fairly evaluate the defence and wrongly treated it as a mere denial,&rdquo; she said. &ldquo;There was no element of dishonesty when Syed Saddiq instructed his staff to withdraw party funds, as he was legally entitled to do so at the time.&rdquo;
The court ruled that the prosecution had failed to prove the core elements of the offences, particularly the intent required for criminal breach of trust (CBT), misappropriation, and money laundering. According to the judgment, the failure to properly direct the trial and the misinterpretation of legal standards warranted full appellate intervention.

Syed Saddiq, 32, had been convicted in 2023 on four charges:

The sentence had been stayed pending the appeal.
