For the fortunate, travelling is something that&rsquo;s become a hobby whether it is locally or abroad.

If you are one who&rsquo;d love to go out and explore the world, you&rsquo;ll likely choose to go abroad and if you&rsquo;re on a budget, the best solution is to travel around Southeast Asia as it offers many affordable thrills.
But before you travel, the first thing first is that you&rsquo;ll need to renew your passport. In Malaysia, our passport is only valid for 5 years from the date it&rsquo;s issued, and we will need to renew it before we head out of the country for our next adventure.
In fact, sometimes you can&rsquo;t even travel to certain countries as the passport will need a minimum validity of 6 months before its expiration date and this is widely practised by many countries.
The Pain Of Renewing Your Passport

Despite having the <a href="https://imigresen-online.imi.gov.my/eservices/main">e-Services</a> of the immigration department which covers a variety of services from Visa checks, MyOnline Residence Pass, Passport Renewals and many more, the process of getting a new passport can take a while due to the long lines at the immigration department.
Unfortunately for this woman, the long line wasn&rsquo;t the only thing that she had to endure while waiting in line for her passport. Facebook user Shakira Mamii went online to share her experience of getting her passport done at UTC Johor and it certainly wasn&rsquo;t the best experience out there.

Shakira shared that during the process of renewing your passport, you&rsquo;ll need to take a few precautionary steps such as dressing appropriately and ensuring that your hair is neat and tidy. As she did not want to waste any time, she ensured that she followed all the necessary steps for a smooth journey but upon reaching UTC Johor and getting her queue number at 8:30 am, she shared that she had to wait for 2 hours till her number got called.
The first hurdle was completed as the officer at the booth had nothing to say about her appearance. But it was short-lived as a female officer from another booth pointed at the long eyelashes and stated that she needs to show her &ldquo;original face&rdquo; to renew the passport.

Shakira told the officer that she had eyelash extensions which are different unlike glueing fake lashes. Plus, she said she was hesitant to remove it as she only got it done not too long ago. Despite explaining the situation, the officer told her to resolve the issue and even offered to keep her queue number.
&ldquo;I know contact lenses and makeup are not allowed, but I overlooked at this point. After all, I see them as my own eyelashes. I think ladies who have extensions can relate,&rdquo; she said in her post.

Rather than wasting time to head to a saloon to get her eyelashes done, she had resorted to plucking out her extensions in the bathroom and unfortunately, it had also caused her natural lashes to come off as well. Upon returning to the counter, the officer was shocked at how quickly she got the matter resolved but all Shakira could do was smile on the outside while feeling tremendous pain inside.
Re-extended Her Eyelashes Again
After finally managing to renew her passport, Shakira shared that she later went straight to a saloon to get her eyelashes done again as it will take up to 2 months for her natural lashes to grow back.
Though it cost RM100, Shakira reminded others to be mindful about their &ldquo;makeup&rdquo; before getting their passport renewed in the future, so others won&rsquo;t suffer the same faith as her eyelashes.
Previously, influencer Maddy Breteche-Lo had gone through the same issue at UTC Sarawak where she was forced to trim down her eyelashes to renew her passport.
