The prevalence of internet pornography has made unprotected sex increasingly common. Compounding this issue is the absence of formal sex education as a subject in schools and educational institutions. Consequently, the alarming surge in sexually transmitted cases is a direct consequence of the limited awareness and information available to many teens on this critical matter.
On October 30, Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek made an official declaration in Parliament, revealing the concerning statistics of Malaysian teenagers who tested positive for sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) between 2018 and 2022. Shockingly, the total count reached 913 infected teenagers, with the youngest among them being just thirteen years old.

Based on notifications from the Health Ministry, we can note that while some STDs are treatable, others unfortunately are not. According to the Ministry of Health (MoH), the following statistics demonstrate the reported cases of teenagers aged 13-17 over the past five years:

</ul>
Attributing the information to Fadhlina, the Ministry of Health (MoH) supplied the data, encompassing various STDs such as syphilis, gonorrhea, chancroid, and HIV.

Furthermore, Fadhlina highlighted that in 2019, a fraction of students had returned positive drug test results during urine screenings. She went on to elaborate, stating, "In 2022, the percentage of students testing positive in urine screenings was 1.18%, and by September of this year, the figure had decreased to 0.64%." The credibility of this data is established through its execution by both the Ministry of Health (MoH) and the National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK).
It's worth noting that no urine tests were conducted in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, as reported by NST, when students were engaged in home-based learning. On a positive note, Fadhlina pointed out that negative behaviours such as bullying, truancy, smoking, indecent conduct, and mischief have witnessed a consistent decline over recent years, citing the Student Discipline System (SSDM).
Furthermore, the percentage of school dropouts within the past five years, spanning from 2018 to 2022, has decreased from 1.21% to 0.99%, presenting a promising trend within the current student body.

The family has no idea when &ldquo;Ah Long&rdquo; began contacting Yi Xuan or the nature of their relationship. The lack of transparency has only deepened fears that the teenager may have been manipulated or lured away.

After Yi Xuan&rsquo;s disappearance on 28 April, the family attempted to contact both her and &ldquo;Ah Long&rdquo; by phone. Neither responded, and both devices have remained switched off since. In desperation, Su went to &ldquo;Ah Long&rsquo;s&rdquo; known residence, only to find that the premises appeared abandoned.
&ldquo;My family and I have searched everywhere she usually goes &mdash; parks, caf&eacute;s, and hangouts she likes. We even received a tip that someone saw a girl matching her description in Yong Peng, and we rushed there, but so far we&rsquo;ve found nothing,&rdquo; said Su.
A Family Desperate for Answers
