In a post by Pinkfish Festival, the event held on May 16 marked their first anniversary and was hailed as "Southeast Asia's inaugural festive train."
True to its name, Pinkfish Express hosted a rave party within the confines of a KTMB train, where DJs and partygoers danced and revelled throughout the night.
PAS Chief Says The Party Was Immoral

Despite the widespread enjoyment at the party, not everyone shared the sentiment, with political party PAS expressing dissatisfaction and questioning the approval process for the event.
In a statement, PAS chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari voiced concerns, deeming the event contrary to "Eastern culture, which values propriety, modesty, and moderate forms of entertainment." He criticized what he viewed as excessive entertainment, stating that the party aboard the KTMB train failed to uphold the principles of the Rukun Negara and tarnished the reputation of KTMB, a cherished national asset with a rich historical significance.
&ldquo;Whatever excuse is used to justify the programme, such as the generation of money, it remains unacceptable and goes against the philosophy of Malaysia Madani spearheaded by Prime Minister and finance minister Anwar Ibrahim,&rdquo; he said.

Dadhli further contended that KTMB, being a Government-Linked Company (GLC) under the Ministry of Finance, necessitates closer scrutiny of events that "normalize immorality." Recognizing Malaysia's diverse community, he called upon all to uphold the reputation and integrity of KTMB by embracing forms of entertainment that are in line with local values, rather than merely mimicking Western influences.
&ldquo;Islam provides comprehensive guidelines to fulfil the desires of people who seek entertainment. Moderation in entertainment is the key to progress,&rdquo; he said.
KTMB Provides Statement About Pinkfish Express

Amidst the widespread online controversy, LTMB stepped forward to offer an explanation, aiming to clarify the situation.
In a report by Harian Metro, KTMB stated that the chartered train was en route from Kuala Lumpur Station to Serendah, commemorating the Pinkfish Festival's anniversary. Emphasizing that this wasn't an ordinary KTMB train, they elaborated that the organizers had rented a specialized charter train that adhered to KTMB's stipulated conditions.
Among these conditions were the strict prohibitions against smoking, alcohol consumption, drug use, and any other activities that could violate the law&mdash;all of which were acknowledged and observed by the Pinkfish Express rave organizers.
Furthermore, KTMB clarified that their role was solely that of a service provider, offering the train and coaches as per the customer's requests, with the organized activities determined by the hirer according to established guidelines and terms.
"KTMB's role is as a service provider, where we supply the entire train and coaches based on customer requests and planned activities determined by the customer according to the guidelines and terms that have been established," the statement read.
In light of the controversy, KTMB expressed their commitment to enhancing and refining guidelines for special rental trains, aiming to safeguard public interests and their company's reputation in future endeavours.

There was reportedly no immediate update from staff regarding the cause of the delay or how long passengers would be stuck.
