&ldquo;This move aligns with our efforts to modernise public transport and push towards a fully digital and cashless society,&rdquo; said Loke during the launch. &ldquo;A world-class public transport system is not just about having trains and buses; it&rsquo;s also about seamless digital infrastructure.&rdquo;

In an effort to address concerns about cost and financial transparency, Minister in the Prime Minister&rsquo;s Department (Federal Territories), Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa, confirmed that the entire RM4 billion cost will be borne by the developer. Under the BLMT model, the private developer will fund, build, and maintain the township for 25 years before transferring ownership to the government.
&ldquo;There will be no taxpayer money used,&rdquo; Dr Zaliha stated, addressing criticisms about national spending priorities.
This financial structure is seen as a way to deliver large-scale innovation without placing further burden on the public purse, while ensuring long-term value for the government.

&ldquo;The learned trial judge did not fairly evaluate the defence and wrongly treated it as a mere denial,&rdquo; she said. &ldquo;There was no element of dishonesty when Syed Saddiq instructed his staff to withdraw party funds, as he was legally entitled to do so at the time.&rdquo;
The court ruled that the prosecution had failed to prove the core elements of the offences, particularly the intent required for criminal breach of trust (CBT), misappropriation, and money laundering. According to the judgment, the failure to properly direct the trial and the misinterpretation of legal standards warranted full appellate intervention.
The Charges and What They Meant
Syed Saddiq, 32, had been convicted in 2023 on four charges:

The sentence had been stayed pending the appeal.
