In our previous post, we only mentioned that Zermatt Neo's Nasi Kandar meal cost RM300 and that he brought his own plate for the challenge. Now, we have more details, and they're quite surprising.
Neo, a competitive eater, consumed a plate of Nasi Kandar weighing 8kg. While comments on NKS&rsquo;s Facebook claimed he took around 2 hours to finish, Neo actually completed the meal in just one hour. Even more astonishingly, he managed this feat on only one hour of sleep the entire day.
So if you&rsquo;re wondering what made the Nasi Kandar so expensive, he had had:

Having set a new record, Neo challenged anyone to try the 8kg Nasi Kandar themselves, cautioning that the rice base will quickly fill up even the heartiest eaters.

Perodua has announced a reduction of up to 10% on service maintenance parts and labour costs across its entire vehicle lineup, offering some relief to Malaysians facing rising living expenses.
The initiative takes effect from 19 June 2026 and applies to all Perodua models, including the company&rsquo;s newly launched electric vehicle, the QV-E. Customers can expect savings on a wide range of maintenance services, from routine inspections and parts replacements to labour charges at authorised service centres nationwide.
According to the national carmaker, the move is part of its ongoing efforts to make vehicle ownership more affordable while ensuring customers continue to benefit from professional servicing and genuine replacement parts.
Customers Expected To Save Around 10% Per Service Visit

Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Seri Zainal Abidin Ahmad, said the revised pricing structure takes into account reductions in both maintenance parts and labour costs.
As a result, customers are expected to save approximately 10% on their average service bill.
&ldquo;We welcome our customers to visit our authorised service centres to find out more about the deal and to use genuine parts, so that your Perodua vehicle will continue to remain reliable and efficient when you need it most,&rdquo; he said.
He added that the company hopes the initiative will help reduce mobility-related expenses for Malaysians while providing greater value to existing customers.
Unlike typical promotional campaigns that focus only on selected components, Perodua&rsquo;s latest initiative covers both parts and workmanship costs, allowing owners to enjoy more meaningful savings during routine maintenance.
Applies To Every Perodua Model, Including The QV-E

The company said the campaign covers inspection services, maintenance packages, parts replacement and labour costs associated with vehicle servicing.
By including both conventional and electric vehicles, Perodua aims to ensure that all customers can enjoy lower ownership costs.
More Than Five Million Vehicles Stand To Benefit

Given the scale of its customer base, the company believes the latest initiative could help a significant number of Malaysians reduce their transportation expenses. Zainal noted that the reduction was made possible through improvements in operational efficiency and efforts to eliminate unnecessary wastage within the company.
&ldquo;We have improved efficiency while at the same time eliminating any wastages in our operations. The benefits of these activities are passed to our valued customers,&rdquo; he said.
Follows Recent Changes To QV-E Ownership Plans

Malaysia&rsquo;s highest-performing Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) students will soon receive a major boost in their academic journey, with public universities set to waive undergraduate tuition fees for the country&rsquo;s top achievers.
The new initiative, announced by Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek, will begin with the 2025 STPM cohort and benefit the 18 students recognised as the nation&rsquo;s top performers.
The sponsorship programme, which comes in the form of full tuition fee coverage, reflects the commitment of public universities to support outstanding students and ensure they have greater access to higher education opportunities.
Speaking during the STPM Top Students, Malaysian University English Test (MUET) and Malay Language Proficiency Certificate for Foreign Nationals awards ceremony, Fadhlina described the initiative as an important step towards strengthening Malaysia&rsquo;s Form Six ecosystem.
Encouraging More Students To Choose Form Six

According to Fadhlina, every public university will sponsor at least one of the top STPM students by covering their undergraduate tuition fees.

&ldquo;If this year it is one student, hopefully next year it can be five,&rdquo; she said, adding that the ministry wants to ensure deserving students can continue their education at degree level without financial barriers.
The initiative forms part of broader efforts to encourage more students to pursue Form Six studies, which remains one of Malaysia&rsquo;s most respected and affordable pre-university pathways.
The government has also introduced several measures in recent years to strengthen Form Six education, including the expansion of Form Six colleges, the provision of smartboards, school assistance programmes, MADANI Book Vouchers and additional academic support initiatives.
STPM 2025 Records Stronger Results

The announcement comes alongside another positive milestone for STPM candidates.
The Malaysian Examinations Council revealed that 1,336 students achieved a perfect 4.0 cumulative grade point average (CGPA) in the 2025 examination, an increase of 70 students compared to the previous year.
The number represents 3.5 per cent of the 40,199 candidates who registered for the examination.
Overall performance also improved, with Malaysia&rsquo;s national CGPA rising from 2.85 in 2024 to 2.88 in 2025 &mdash; the highest national average ever recorded for the examination.
Meanwhile, the number of students obtaining five As increased from 53 in 2024 to 60 in 2025, while those earning four As rose from 1,228 to 1,285 candidates.
The percentage of candidates achieving a full pass in four or five subjects also increased, reaching 77.64 per cent compared to 76.55 per cent the previous year.
Recognising Excellence Across Different Categories

This year&rsquo;s 18 top national achievers represent a diverse group of students from various backgrounds.
The recipients include seven students from the Science stream, seven from the Social Science stream, one Orang Asli student, and three students with special educational needs, including candidates with visual impairments and other disabilities.
In recognition of their achievements, each student received RM1,000 in cash, a plaque and a certificate, in addition to the newly announced tuition fee sponsorships.
Parents And Teachers Recognised For Their Support
Fadhlina also paid tribute to parents and teachers, highlighting the important role they play in students&rsquo; academic success.
She noted that exceptional examination results are rarely achieved through individual effort alone, but are often supported by families and educators who continuously encourage students throughout their educational journey.
The minister stressed that STPM remains one of the strongest pathways into higher education, offering students a solid foundation before progressing to degree-level studies.

The initiative, announced by Malaysia&rsquo;s banking industry in collaboration with Payments Network Malaysia Sdn Bhd (PayNet), means debit cardholders can enjoy unlimited free interbank cash withdrawals at more than 14,000 ATMs and SRMs nationwide.
No More RM1 Charge For Interbank Withdrawals

From 1 July onwards, that charge will be removed completely. Regardless of which participating bank issued the debit card, customers will be able to withdraw cash from any participating ATM or SRM across Malaysia without paying an additional fee.
The waiver applies to all ATMs and Smart Recycler Machines operated by banks nationwide, giving users greater flexibility to use whichever machine is most convenient.
Unlimited Free Withdrawals Across More Than 14,000 Machines
The new initiative will provide debit cardholders with unlimited fee-free withdrawals through a network of over 14,000 banking machines across the country.
This means consumers no longer need to search for their own bank&rsquo;s ATM simply to avoid paying extra charges. Whether they are travelling, working in another town or simply using the nearest available machine, they can access their money without worrying about additional costs.

The world&rsquo;s third-largest pizza chain officially launched its Malaysian debut on 24 May at Damansara Utama, Petaling Jaya, marking the brand&rsquo;s long-awaited entry into the local fast-food scene.
Located at 39G, Jalan SS21/37 in Damansara Utama, the outlet immediately drew large crowds during its opening weekend, with pizzas reportedly selling out due to overwhelming demand from curious Malaysians eager to finally try the chain made famous through American television shows, films and social media.
A Brand Malaysians Already Recognise

Today, the company operates across all 50 US states as well as 31 countries and territories worldwide, making it the world&rsquo;s largest family-owned pizza company.
HOT-N-READY Pizzas Finally Arrive In Malaysia

At the same time, the Malaysian menu also includes flavours tailored to local tastes. Among the options introduced are Chicken Hawaiian, 3 Cheese Edge to Edge and Classic Veggie Pizza, offering a balance between international favourites and flavours more familiar to local diners.
The company said the aim is to combine fresh ingredients, convenience and affordability while adapting to Malaysia&rsquo;s vibrant food culture.
Expansion Plans Already Underway

Starbucks Malaysia has officially unveiled the Kopi Creator Kolektif (KCK) Class of 2026, introducing 10 promising local creatives selected to take part in a creator development programme aimed at nurturing the next generation of Malaysian musicians and filmmakers.
Announced in conjunction with World Creativity and Innovation Day, the initiative features five musicians and five filmmakers chosen through an open call earlier this year. The selected finalists will now undergo a series of industry-led mentorship sessions, workshops, and masterclasses before presenting their original works during a live showcase on 16 May 2026 at Starbucks Reserve&reg; IOI Mall Damansara.
The programme reflects Starbucks Malaysia&rsquo;s continued efforts to support homegrown creativity while providing emerging artists with opportunities to gain exposure, refine their craft, and connect with industry professionals.
More Than Just A Coffeehouse

Kopi Creator Kolektif was created as a platform to support young Malaysian talent by bringing together aspiring creatives, mentors, and creative communities under one initiative.
The programme is rooted in Starbucks&rsquo; long-standing &ldquo;Third Place&rdquo; philosophy, which positions its coffeehouses as welcoming spaces beyond home and work where people can gather, exchange ideas, and build meaningful connections.
According to Starbucks Malaysia, caf&eacute;s today have evolved into more than just places for food and drinks. The company cited a 2024 local study involving 230 university students, which found that caf&eacute;s are often used as spaces for discussions, assignments, social gatherings, and creative collaboration, with many respondents describing them as a &ldquo;second home&rdquo;.
Zakiah Hanim Md Zaki, Director of Marketing &amp; Loyalty at Berjaya Starbucks Coffee Company Sdn Bhd, said the company sees its coffeehouses as spaces where creativity and community can thrive together.
She shared that it was inspiring to witness Malaysian creative talents coming together through the programme, adding that Starbucks was proud to provide a platform where local stories and artistic expression could be discovered and celebrated.
Mentorship From Industry Players

Following the selection process, finalists will now take part in tailored development tracks designed to strengthen both their artistic identity and technical skills.

Finalists will also gain access to professional studio facilities and industry-grade equipment to help refine their material ahead of the showcase.
Meanwhile, the film cohort will be mentored by Weekend Boys Studio together with Multimedia University&rsquo;s Faculty of Cinematic Arts. Their sessions will centre on storytelling, concept development, and production techniques from idea creation through to screen execution.
Director and film mentor Adam Zainal described initiatives like KCK as important platforms for emerging creatives, noting that a strong creative culture depends on giving new voices room to experiment, grow, and share their perspectives with wider audiences.
Music mentor and Breaking Music co-founder Isaac Ravi also praised the initiative, saying opportunities like these can significantly impact emerging artists and help open doors within the industry.
He added that the Class of 2026 already showed strong promise and expressed excitement to see how the finalists would develop throughout the programme.
Live Showcase Happening This May

The showcase will also serve as a platform for Malaysians to discover new local talent and support rising creatives within the country&rsquo;s growing arts scene.
At the end of the event, one winner from each category will receive prizes valued at RM10,000. The winning musician will earn the opportunity to record a four-track EP, while the winning filmmaker will receive funding and support for the production of an original short film.
Expanding Beyond Music
Kopi Creator Kolektif first debuted in late 2025 through intimate live music sessions held at Starbucks coffeehouses, featuring local acts such as Amanda Imani, An Honest Mistake, and RESORT.
With the inclusion of filmmakers in this year&rsquo;s edition, the platform is now expanding beyond music in an effort to further strengthen Malaysia&rsquo;s creative ecosystem and create more opportunities for young talents to showcase their work.
