Are you a citizen residing in Selangor and registered to vote there?
If so, you may be familiar with the Selangor State Government's financial aid program, Bantuan Sejahtera Selangor (Bingkas), which assists households earning below RM5,000 a month. Previously, only those earning below RM3,000 a month were eligible for Bingkas.
Anfaal Saari, chairman of Selangor's Women, Family Empowerment, Welfare, and Care Economy Committee, announced that the new requirement, effective this month, will support more financially struggling families.

"Households can now apply for the annual financial aid of RM3,600 through the Selangor government&rsquo;s SELangkah App or the website www.bingkasselangor.com until August 15," announced Anfaal Saari at a press conference held at the State Secretariat in Shah Alam.
Successful applicants will receive Bingkas aid of RM300 per month for 24 months. This assistance can be used to purchase basic food necessities, medicines, and educational materials.
"The Bingkas initiative involves an allocation of RM108 million, targeting 30,000 applicants," she added.
Among the states in Malaysia, Bingkas stands out as one of the largest financial aid programs in the country. One of the requirements is that applicants must have two dependents below the age of 18 to ensure the benefit reaches the intended target group.
For those applying for the financial aid, they will need to check that they meet the other eligibility criteria listed on the Bingkas website such as:

How To Apply For The Bingkas Financial Aid?
To get started, eligible individuals should download the Selangkah app from either the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store.
Once downloaded, create an account by providing your full name, phone number for TAC verification, and a password. Select your preferred language, and agree to the app's privacy statement and terms of use. Follow the steps shown in the screenshot below to complete the registration process.

After logging into the app, you'll land on the home page. Scroll down to find the "State Programs" section and tap on the Bingkas button. This will take you to the Bingkas application page. Once there, simply tap on the &ldquo;Buat Permohonan&rdquo; button to begin your application.

On the initial page of the application, you'll be asked to provide personal details, including your full name, address, MyKad number, state constituency, and the number of years you've lived in Selangor. After checking a box to confirm that this information is accurate, you'll proceed to the employment information page. Here, you'll need to enter your employer's details and your monthly personal income before moving on.

On the next page, you&rsquo;ll need to provide details about the children in your household, including their full names, dates of birth, ages, any OKU status, and identification documents. Additionally, you will be asked to provide the total monthly income for your household.
The following two pages will require you to list any other monthly financial aid you are currently receiving and upload relevant supporting documents, such as your MyKad, pay slips, EA form, EPF statement, and proof of your registered voting constituency.
After completing these sections, you&rsquo;ll be asked to confirm the accuracy of the information provided in the declaration section before submitting your application. The processing time is up to 14 days, with successful applicants notified through the Selangkah app.
Once approved, the RM300 financial aid will be credited to your Selangkah e-wallet and can only be used for purchasing household necessities at approved Bingkas panel stores.

Pok&eacute;mon fans in Malaysia have plenty to look forward to this year as Kuala Lumpur has been selected as the first city in Asia to launch the franchise&rsquo;s highly anticipated 30th anniversary celebrations.
The Pok&eacute;mon Company officially unveiled a series of major events during a press conference held in Kuala Lumpur on 16 June, confirming that Malaysia will lead the regional rollout of the anniversary festivities ahead of other cities including Taipei, Singapore, Manila and Bangkok.

The event will take place at KLCC Park on 12 and 13 September 2026, with free admission for the public.

Fans can also look forward to special products created exclusively for the 30th anniversary celebration.

Starting 1 July 2026, bank customers will no longer have to pay the RM1 fee when withdrawing money from another bank&rsquo;s ATM or Smart Recycler Machine (SRM), making cash withdrawals more convenient and affordable across the country.
The initiative, announced by Malaysia&rsquo;s banking industry in collaboration with Payments Network Malaysia Sdn Bhd (PayNet), means debit cardholders can enjoy unlimited free interbank cash withdrawals at more than 14,000 ATMs and SRMs nationwide.
No More RM1 Charge For Interbank Withdrawals

Previously, customers who withdrew cash from an ATM belonging to a different bank than the one that issued their debit card would be charged an RM1 fee for every transaction.
From 1 July onwards, that charge will be removed completely. Regardless of which participating bank issued the debit card, customers will be able to withdraw cash from any participating ATM or SRM across Malaysia without paying an additional fee.
The waiver applies to all ATMs and Smart Recycler Machines operated by banks nationwide, giving users greater flexibility to use whichever machine is most convenient.
Unlimited Free Withdrawals Across More Than 14,000 Machines
The new initiative will provide debit cardholders with unlimited fee-free withdrawals through a network of over 14,000 banking machines across the country.
This means consumers no longer need to search for their own bank&rsquo;s ATM simply to avoid paying extra charges. Whether they are travelling, working in another town or simply using the nearest available machine, they can access their money without worrying about additional costs.
The move is expected to make everyday banking more accessible, especially for those who frequently withdraw cash.

According to court documents, money was first transferred from Chan&rsquo;s housing loan account into her savings account before being moved in stages to several third-party accounts belonging to unknown individuals.
Chan only discovered the transactions nearly two weeks later, on 15 July 2021, after checking her Maybank2u account. She later lodged a police report over the incident.
Victim Denied Authorising Transfers

In its defence, the bank further suggested that Chan&rsquo;s banking information may have been exposed due to negligence on her part.

The court further heard that several mule account holders connected to the transfers had already pleaded guilty in separate criminal cases involving concealment of stolen property and possession of stolen items.

At the centre of this shift is the introduction of B100 biodiesel, a fuel derived entirely from palm oil with no fossil fuel blending.
Spearheaded by the Federal Land Development Authority, or FELDA, this initiative represents one of the first large-scale efforts globally to commercialise a fully fossil-free biodiesel. Unlike existing blends such as B10 or B20, which still rely partly on conventional diesel, B100 is produced using 100 per cent palm oil-based feedstock.
The initiative is currently at the policy stage, with initial implementation expected to begin within the FELDA ecosystem before any broader nationwide rollout.
Competitive Pricing and Economic Potential

This positions it significantly below current industrial diesel prices, which have risen sharply in recent weeks, with some figures exceeding RM6.00 per litre in Peninsular Malaysia. If B100 can consistently remain below RM5.00 per litre, it could serve as a viable alternative that reduces reliance on imported fossil fuels.
Beyond cost savings, the widespread adoption of B100 could help stabilise domestic fuel prices and ease the government&rsquo;s subsidy burden, which has surged dramatically in recent years. It also offers clear economic benefits to Malaysia&rsquo;s palm oil sector, increasing demand and supporting smallholders across the industry.
Proven Through Extensive Pilot Testing

FELDA&rsquo;s confidence in B100 is backed by a series of successful trials conducted over the past two years.
In 2024, a four-month pilot test using tanker trucks demonstrated that the fuel could be used reliably without major technical issues. This was followed by a more extensive trial beginning in 2025, involving passenger vehicles over a 15-month period. These vehicles collectively travelled more than 50,000 kilometres, with no significant performance concerns reported.
The trials confirmed that B100 can function effectively in diesel engines, although certain vehicles may require modifications or specific handling due to the fuel&rsquo;s properties, such as sensitivity to low temperatures and higher solvent characteristics.
Environmental Benefits and Sustainability Goals

As a renewable energy source, B100 offers clear environmental advantages over conventional diesel. It produces significantly lower greenhouse gas emissions, aligning with Malaysia&rsquo;s commitments under the Paris Agreement to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
Biodiesel itself can be produced from a variety of organic sources, including vegetable oils, used cooking oil, and animal fats. In the case of B100, palm oil serves as the primary feedstock, making it a domestically sourced and renewable alternative.
This shift not only reduces dependence on fossil fuel imports but also strengthens Malaysia&rsquo;s position as a global leader in sustainable palm oil innovation.
Challenges: Supply, Capacity and Policy

Despite its promise, the large-scale rollout of B100 is not without challenges. The most immediate concern is the availability of sufficient crude palm oil supply to support nationwide adoption. While Malaysia produces around 20 million tonnes of crude palm oil annually, limitations in processing capacity and existing demand patterns remain key constraints.
To address this, FELDA and FGV Holdings are exploring ways to expand biodiesel processing facilities and increase production capacity. Discussions are ongoing to determine the most effective approach, whether through private sector participation, government support, or a hybrid model.
Equally important is the need for a clear and comprehensive government policy framework. Without it, industry players may struggle to scale production or invest in the necessary infrastructure.
There have also been calls to gradually increase biodiesel blending rates at petrol stations, moving from B10 to higher levels such as B20 or even B30, as a transitional step towards wider adoption.
A Strategic Step Towards Energy Security
At its core, the B100 initiative is about more than just fuel innovation. It represents a broader effort to future-proof Malaysia&rsquo;s energy landscape against global disruptions.
By leveraging its existing strengths in palm oil production, the country has the opportunity to reduce its reliance on imported fuels, stabilise domestic prices, and build a more resilient energy ecosystem.
While further policy clarity and infrastructure development are needed, B100 biodiesel signals a significant shift in Malaysia&rsquo;s approach to energy &mdash; one that prioritises sustainability, self-sufficiency, and long-term stability.
