Planning a getaway to Cameron Highlands with your friends or family to enjoy the cool weather and picturesque countryside?
You might have heard about Cameron Highlands' miniature Greece, popularly known as 'The Mini Santorini,' a major tourist attraction. Unfortunately, if you were hoping to visit, it's too late. Authorities have recently revealed that the site was operating illegally and have taken action against it.

According to a Facebook post by the Majlis Pemandaran Cameron Highlands (MDCH), the 'Mini Santorini' attraction was constructed without proper authorization. The developers failed to obtain the necessary approvals to create the Greece-inspired town.
Due to these violations, the site was demolished by authorities on August 5, 2024, for breaching Section 70(1) of the Road, Drainage, and Building Act 1974 (Act 113), which pertains to unapproved construction. Despite operating illegally for the past four months and attracting numerous tourists, the site was shut down.
MDCH, along with various district departments and agencies, including the Cameron Highlands District and Land Office (PDTCH), the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), the Pahang State Enforcement Unit (UPNP), the Cameron Highlands District Public Works Department (JKR), and Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), carried out the demolition from 9 am to 11:30 am. The operation, led by MDCH President Tuan Azmil Hadid bin Maznan, used excavators and iron hammers to dismantle the area.
This enforcement action serves as a reminder to all developers to strictly adhere to regulations and procedures set by authorities.

After the demolition, the owner of Cameron&rsquo;s Mini Santorini, Cl Cheah, 62, came forward and mentioned the possibility of restoring the attraction in the future, as he has been operating on land his father owned for 60 years. He explained that the idea of transforming his father&rsquo;s vegetable farm into a tourist spot came after visiting Greece and wanting to bring the concept home.
"I wanted to boost tourism in Cameron Highlands in conjunction with Visit Malaysia 2026," he shared in a report by The Star.
Construction of the area began three years ago, with operations starting in April 2024. Since its opening, Cheah noted that the site had been popular among both locals and foreign tourists, including visitors from China, Singapore, and Thailand. Following the demolition, Cheah stated that his next step is to seek approval from relevant authorities to reopen the site.

They questioned why authorities waited until the project was completed to take action, rather than intervening during the three years it took Cheah to build it. Although Cheah is now seeking official permission to reopen the site, it's disheartening to see that authorities opted for demolition rather than issuing a proper notice to temporarily close the attraction until approval was obtained. Many believe a less drastic approach could have prevented the current situation.
The timeline for this process is uncertain, as is the duration Cheah will need to rebuild Mini Santorini. However, we hope to see it back in operation in the near future.

Baekhyun’s ‘Reverie’ World Tour Is Coming to KL and Singapore!

After ten years of making their mark on the Malaysian music scene &mdash; and in the playlists of countless fans across the region &mdash; pop-rock band Insomniacks are ready to take the stage for their first-ever solo concert. Titled Echoes of a Dream: Insomniacks Live in Concert, the event marks a significant milestone for the beloved group.

Insomniacks is a Malaysian pop-rock band that has rapidly emerged as one of the country's most beloved music acts, known for their emotionally charged lyrics, catchy melodies, and youthful energy. Formed in 2015, the band first gained attention by uploading cover songs on YouTube, showcasing their raw talent and chemistry. It wasn&rsquo;t long before they transitioned into crafting their own original sound, debuting with the heartfelt single &ldquo;Selalu&rdquo; in 2017 &mdash; a song that resonated deeply with listeners and was featured on the Astro Ria drama My Coffee Prince.

Their growing influence has earned them numerous accolades, including recognition as one of the Top 5 most-streamed Malaysian artists on Spotify in 2024. With multiple radio hits under their belt, including fan-favorites like &ldquo;Igauan Malam&rdquo;, &ldquo;Reminisensi&rdquo;, and &ldquo;Kepulanganmu&rdquo;, the band&rsquo;s momentum shows no signs of slowing down. As they continue to tour and produce new music, Insomniacks stands as a shining example of Malaysia&rsquo;s thriving contemporary music scene.
Today, the band comprises three members: frontman and lead guitarist Iqie (Syed Mir Iqbal), bassist and vocalist Wan Arif Iskandar, and rhythm guitarist and vocalist Danial Lee Hashim. Previously a quartet, drummer Gavin Wong departed the group in 2022.

In a gesture of appreciation to their loyal fanbase &mdash; known as "Maniacks" &mdash; ticket prices have been set at accessible rates. SAH Entertainment&rsquo;s Managing Director, Sufi Rashid, called the event a &ldquo;historic moment&rdquo; for the band, noting that the pricing strategy was aimed at including as many fans as possible.

More than a decade since audiences were first dazzled by sleight of hand and cinematic spectacle in Now You See Me, the franchise is poised for a thrilling return. The third instalment, Now You See Me: Now You Don&rsquo;t, promises the most audacious heist yet &mdash; blending the original gang of illusionists with a new wave of rising stars in a high-stakes battle against a dangerous criminal organisation.
The Original Horsemen Saddle Up Again

The film marks the long-awaited reunion of the core cast that captivated fans in the first instalment. Jesse Eisenberg returns as the cerebral and enigmatic J. Daniel Atlas, once again orchestrating plans that blur the line between magic and manipulation. Rejoining him are Woody Harrelson as the hypnotist Merritt McKinney, Dave Franco as sleight-of-hand specialist Jack Wilder, and Isla Fisher as escape artist Henley Reeves &mdash; whose return is particularly notable, as she was absent from the second film.

Following her performance in Saltburn, Pike brings a sharp edge and air of menace that feels tailor-made for the Now You See Me universe.
Her role signals a thematic evolution for the franchise &mdash; pitting illusionists not just against law enforcement or rogue magicians, but against a deeply entrenched criminal power structure. With the addition of Pike and the blending of old and new talent, Now You See Me: Now You Don&rsquo;t is setting the stage for the series&rsquo; most complex battle yet.
Lights, Camera, Illusion: A Bold Times Square Reveal

To launch the film&rsquo;s marketing campaign, Lionsgate pulled off a real-world publicity stunt straight from the Horsemen&rsquo;s playbook. In the heart of New York City&rsquo;s Times Square, a digital billboard teased fans with the phrase &ldquo;Now You See Me,&rdquo; accompanied by a countdown and a phone number. As the timer hit zero, the display changed to reveal &ldquo;Now You Don&rsquo;t&rdquo; &mdash; and fans who had texted in received instant digital cash giveaways totalling $250,000, as well as exclusive access to the official trailer.
Newcomers Greenblatt, Smith, and Sessa appeared in person to help carry out what Lionsgate dubbed a visual &ldquo;heist,&rdquo; adding to the fanfare and bringing the energy of the franchise&rsquo;s big-screen illusions to real life. It was a fittingly dramatic entrance for a film built on misdirection and flair.
Behind the Curtain: Direction, Production, and the Future
