Remember the iconic 2005 romance film "Sepet," directed by the late Yasmin Ahmad? Now, you can once again immerse yourself in its heartfelt story and nostalgia on the big screen.
In celebration of Hari Kebangsaan and the movie&rsquo;s 20th anniversary, GSC Cinemas is re-releasing "Sepet" for a limited run from 29th August to 8th September. The film will be shown at select GSC locations, including GSC Mid Valley, GSC 1 Utama, GSC Paradigm JB, and GSC CityOne Kuching, with tickets priced at RM15 each.
Who is Yasmin Ahmad?

Yasmin Ahmad was a visionary Malaysian filmmaker, director, and writer whose work has left an indelible mark on Malaysian cinema and culture. Born on July 7, 1958, in Bukit Treh, Muar, Johor, she initially pursued a career in advertising and rose to prominence as the creative director of Leo Burnett, where she was known for her heartfelt and memorable commercials that reflected Malaysia&rsquo;s diverse cultural fabric. Yasmin's transition into filmmaking began in the early 2000s, and she quickly became a celebrated figure in the industry for her honest, humanistic storytelling style and her dedication to exploring themes of love, unity, and social harmony.
Yasmin Ahmad made her directorial debut with the film "Rabun" in 2003, but it was her subsequent films, such as "Sepet" (2004), "Gubra" (2006), and "Mukhsin" (2007), that truly established her as a groundbreaking filmmaker. Her work was characterized by its ability to cross-cultural and racial boundaries, often addressing social issues in Malaysia with empathy and humour.
