A world is a better place when kindness is spread. How much does it take to be kind? It starts from RM 0.00.
One of leading Malaysia&rsquo;s private universities, Asia Pacific University of Technology &amp; Innovation (APU) recently had initiated an MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) to collaborate with FurryKids Safehaven on multiple projects related to Social Responsibility since October 2021.
What is that and how does it work?
Well, as part of their agreement, APU students and the staff community will be participating to together work in providing a safer environment for stray and abandoned animals, monthly according to their CSR programme.
APU Student community managed to achieve a sum of RM6,500 from fundraising to make these volunteer programmes alive as the amount collected will be spent for reconstructing FurryKid&rsquo;s animal shelter that was destroyed by the recent catastrophic flash floods, bathing and vaccinating these furry kids in preparation for adoption and giving a fresh new look to the shelter by designing and painting an attractive mural.

Taking up this opportunity to inculcate social responsibility and sustainability mindsets amongst students, APU's School of Media, Arts, and Design (SoMAD) had allowed its staff and students to unleash their talent for mural on all walls of FurryKids Safehaven that would incredibly mesmerize the visitors and passers-by.
&nbsp;&ldquo;It's truly amazing to have staff and students work together again to contribute their design skills for the community.
It builds the spirit of togetherness, bringing us closer to one another through a shared passion for art,&rdquo; said Ms. Debbie Liew, the Associate Head of School of Media, Art &amp; Design.
On the other hand, lauding this CSR initiative by students and staff, Mr. Gurpardeep Singh, Chief Operating Officer of APU expressed, &ldquo;I am extremely impressed with the creativity and inventiveness showed by APU&rsquo;s students and staff in putting together this very impactful mural for FurryKids Safehaven.
Congratulations also go to the team for raising the funds for this as well as the donation of much-needed food for our furry friends.&rdquo;
"Our NGO is grateful for this collaboration. We welcome APU students to shower our pups, spend time to play with them, and help in bringing colours to the walls,&rdquo; said Ms. Jeskiran Kaur Bhat, President of FurryKids Safehaven when she addressed the APU community earlier in November.

APU academicians who were involved as volunteers included Ms. Abbhirami Sivarajan, a lecturer from the School of Business; and lecturers from SoMAD Mr. Wong Chee Meng, Mr. Fitri Anas Muhiddin, Mr. Jack Lai Yong Geat, Mr. Ooi Aik Khong, Mr. Saifullizan Abdul Wahab, Mr. Shazwan Halamy, Mr. Teay Siew Yen and Ms. Christine Lim Pei Shin.
This is indeed a great effort that many universities should not miss out on taking part with as it (universities in general) is not only could act as a catalyst in helping society to solve social but in sense of environmental, and sustainable challenges by inculcating social responsibility and sustainability mindsets amongst students.
