Hey there KL peeps! Looks like we won&rsquo;t be needing to go for a drive-up Genting Highlands anymore to try the famous American burger joint Five Guys as they had just announced the opening of their first store in Kuala Lumpur!

After several delays due to the pandemic, burger connoisseur can just take a drive down town to Pavilion Kuala Lumpur in Bukit Bintang to enjoy their food.
Five Guys first debut was in Resorts World Genting back in 2021 as it was one of the most looked forward to burger chain to finally come into Malaysia. Back when it first opened, many had flocked to Genting just to get their hands on the burger and trust me, lines were super long!

Similar to their outlet in Genting, the new outlet in Pavilion KL can host up to 66 customers at a time and they retain their policy of serving 100% halal-certified beef and ingredients.

What&rsquo;s good at Five Guys?

If it wasn&rsquo;t obvious enough, the main thing to try there is their burgers + fries and it&rsquo;s a must to pair it up with their signature milkshakes.
Unlike most burger joints, Five Guys offers customers 15 varieties of toppings to choose from. There&rsquo;s also a premium mix-ins for your milkshakes such as peanut butter and strawberries too.

Just when we thought it would be cheaper in KL, well technically yes, it is cheaper but not by much. Most of the items on the menu are RM2 cheaper than the ones in Genting except for the fries where the Little size is RM17 (RM3 cheaper), Regular is RM23 (RM2 cheaper) and Large is RM26 (RM4 cheaper).
I guess we can&rsquo;t complain too much because it is one of the more premium outlets out there. But hey, Malaysians are almost always willing to pay premiums for food.
If you&rsquo;re in KL, looks like it&rsquo;s time to get yourself a good burger.

Who Is Baekhyun?

More than ten people in the group began suffering from extreme vomiting and diarrhoea&mdash;undeniable signs of food poisoning. As the night progressed, the severity of the symptoms escalated, and by morning, two members had to be rushed to the hospital for intravenous drips, while others sought treatment at nearby clinics.
The repercussions of the incident went beyond health issues. Several group members were forced to take sick leave from work, while children attending international schools had to miss classes. The financial burden from medical expenses, combined with lost productivity, only added to their distress.
A Struggle for Accountability

She explained that the group had split into five separate clusters throughout the day, each eating different meals&mdash;with some even skipping lunch entirely&mdash;yet every single person who ate the lok lok that evening fell ill.

A recent survey at Pasar Kubang Pasu in Kelantan found that three to five pieces of kuih Raya are still being sold for RM2. However, this price, which has remained unchanged for the past four years, is expected to rise by as much as 25% after Aidilfitri. This means consumers may soon have to pay RM2.50 for the same quantity.
Coconut Milk Prices Behind the Increase

"We feel bad about increasing kuih prices, but we have no choice. If we stick to the old prices, we won&rsquo;t make any profit," he said.
Tarmizi also highlighted the unpredictable nature of kuih sales. "Some days, everything sells out, and on other days, it doesn&rsquo;t. If it doesn&rsquo;t sell, we are left with nothing but exhaustion," he added, expressing the challenges faced by small vendors.
Possible Further Price Hikes During Ramadan

He explained that suppliers rely on coconuts imported from Indonesia, which cost between RM3.30 and RM3.40 per piece. However, transportation delays often result in some coconuts arriving rotten, increasing production costs and reducing supply.
"For now, I am selling coconut milk at RM13 per kilogram because I don&rsquo;t have the heart to charge more. But if coconut prices continue to rise, sellers might have to increase the price to RM20 per kilogram during Ramadan," he warned.
