If you grew up listening to first-generation K-pop, this is one reunion you probably did not expect to see in 2026.
Legendary girl group Fin.K.L is officially preparing to reunite as a full group after 21 years, marking a major comeback for one of the acts that helped define the early era of K-pop.
GEMSTONE E&amp;M announced on 21 September 2026 that all four original members &mdash; Lee Hyori, Ock Joo Hyun, Lee Jin and Sung Yuri &mdash; have reunited under the Fin.K.L name and are preparing for new group activities.
But unlike their previous reunion in 2019, the agency says this will not simply be a one-off project.
Who Are Fin.K.L?

For newer K-pop fans who grew up with groups such as BLACKPINK, TWICE, NewJeans and IVE, Fin.K.L represent a very different chapter in the genre's history.
Debuting in 1998 under DSP Media, Fin.K.L quickly became one of South Korea's leading first-generation idol girl groups. Alongside S.E.S., they were at the centre of the girl group rivalry that helped define K-pop's late-1990s and early-2000s golden era.
The group became known for their memorable melodies, distinctive concepts and ability to transition between softer, youthful releases and more mature styles as their career developed.

Their success also helped establish the idea of idol groups becoming major mainstream stars, with members eventually developing individual careers beyond their work as a group.
From K-Pop Idols To Individual Careers

Following the group's period of active promotions, the four members went their separate ways professionally, each carving out a successful career in the South Korean entertainment industry.
Lee Hyori became a major solo artist and television personality, releasing hit songs including &ldquo;10 Minutes&rdquo;, &ldquo;U-Go-Girl&rdquo; and &ldquo;Bad Girls&rdquo;.
Ock Joo Hyun moved into musical theatre and became an established stage actress, while Lee Jin and Sung Yuri built careers in acting and television.
Their individual success meant that Fin.K.L remained a recognisable name even during the years when the group was no longer regularly releasing music.
For fans, however, the possibility of seeing the four members together again remained a particularly nostalgic one.
The 2019 Reunion Was Only The Beginning

That reunion finally happened in 2019, when Fin.K.L came together for JTBC's reality programme Camping Club.

They also released new music during the project, including &ldquo;Like the Remaining Song&rdquo;. However, the 2019 reunion was primarily tied to the television programme rather than a permanent return to group activities.
That distinction makes the latest announcement particularly significant.
Fin.K.L Are Starting A New Chapter

The upcoming comeback will be the group's first formal full-group activities since their 2005 digital single &ldquo;<a href="https://open.spotify.com/album/08u61FSaRTXKe6CD7RePvp?si=PFlo33oQRE62ey-6oKHHwQ">Forever Fin.K.L</a>&rdquo;, putting roughly 21 years between their previous official group work and this new chapter.
GEMSTONE E&amp;M says the members are preparing for activities together and that the agency will oversee the group's planning and management in cooperation with the members and their respective representatives.
Most importantly, the agency has described the reunion as &ldquo;a fresh start for sustainable activities&rdquo;, suggesting that Fin.K.L's return is being planned as more than a single nostalgic appearance. The agency also said that various activities will be unveiled gradually for fans who have continued to wait for the group.
For now, specific details such as whether the reunion will include a new album, new singles, concerts or other appearances have not been announced.
Still, the confirmation that Fin.K.L are officially working together again is already a major moment for fans of first-generation K-pop.
