The icon of women&rsquo;s tennis is making a comeback.
Nearly four years after stepping away from singles competition, Serena Williams is set to make a stunning return to the court after accepting a wildcard entry into this year&rsquo;s Wimbledon Championships. The announcement has sent shockwaves through the sporting world, with fans eager to see one of tennis&rsquo; greatest-ever players return to the biggest stage of them all.
What Is Wimbledon?

The 23-time Grand Slam singles champion recently returned to competitive tennis in doubles events at Queen&rsquo;s Club and the Berlin Open. She had already received a wildcard to play doubles at Wimbledon alongside Venus, but remained coy when asked whether she would also enter the singles draw.
Now, that question has been answered.
Tournament organisers confirmed Williams had been awarded the final wildcard spot in the women&rsquo;s singles competition, paving the way for her first Wimbledon singles appearance since 2022.

Can Serena Still Compete?

However, many former players believe writing Serena off would be a mistake.

While expectations should be realistic, few athletes have ever possessed Serena&rsquo;s combination of talent, determination and competitive spirit.
